I am Malala: How a Girl Stood Up for Education and Change the World by Malala Yousafzai

Description

"Education is an education. We should learn everything and then choose which path to follow. Education is neither Eastern nor Western, it is human," said Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl, publicly raised her voice in the favor of female education. On October 9, 2014, she was shot point-blank range on the head while coming back from school by the Taliban in an apparent attempt to silence her.

However, by the grace of God, she survived the attack that no one expected. This fatal attack gave her a global voice that she has been using to fight for female education on a global scale. Her fight earned her a Nobel Prize in 2014 when she was just 17-year-old, making her the youngest winner of this honor of all time. Now she is an international symbol of peaceful protest.

Malala grew up in an untroubled area of Pakistan, which eventually transformed into terror for residents. She was only ten-year-old when the Taliban took over her region. They said music was a crime, women were not allowed to go to the market and girls cannot attend any school. Nevertheless, Malala was taught to stand up for what she believes. Therefore, she fought for her right to be educated.

This book was written by Malala herself and in collaboration with critically acclaimed author Patricia McCormick. Her journey will open your eyes to another world and will make you believe in hope of truth, miracles, and the determination of one person to inspire change.

Review

A gripping book, "Malala - How a Girl Stood Up for Education and Change the world" is an edition for children. It is a re-write of the original book ''I am Malala'' which was published in October 2013, based on the life-story of her bravery, strength, and conviction.

This book is a children's edition, which is written by Malala and co-writer Patricia McCormick. It features updated material, including an exclusive interview with Malala. It tells the remarkable story of a girl who knew from her young age that she wanted to change the world and she eventually did. This book is a must-read for anyone who believes in the power of change, especially for teenagers, to know their rights as well as have the courage to fight back for their rights.

This book is a fast read and written in a very easy language with a touch of humor to make it more interesting for children. The humor relieves the tension of the situation she has been through. As you read the book, you will find the circumstances more horrified what she lived through and she got over the circumstances in an impressive way.

In the book, she does a great job of showing daily life in Pakistan under Taliban rule. She points out issues and talks about her fight for women's rights. She is an inspiration for all women and girls around the world. Her voice is extremely powerful that we should listen to and learn from her life. When you read the book, it is so easy to forget that Malala is just a young girl who is now the face of the world.

She used her grief and her tragic past to build a cause and help others. The fight is still going on. It needs everyone's attention to keep her work on by helping women in our society and making the world an equal place to live in. Readers all get to learn a lot from this book and it should be part of the school curriculum in the world.
Her inspirational book...reveals not only her motivations for becoming an educational activist but also the complexities of being well-known yet lonely and the sadness of her refugee family yearning for their homeland. - Daily Mail

Misery by Stephen King

Description

Misery (1987) is an American psychological horror thriller novel written by Stephen King. The novel's narrative is based on the relationships of its two protagonists- A popular writer Paul Sheldon and his psychotic fan Annie Wilkes.

Paul Sheldon is a bestselling novelist who has finally met his number one fan-Annie Wilkes. She is not only a rapid reader but also a nurse who is taking care of Paul's shattered body after he meets with an accident. Soon, Paul realizes he is a captive in an isolated house and is forced to indulge his captor's whims.

Annie is furious that Paul has killed off her favorite character in his latest book and she wants him to write a book that brings Misery back to life--just for her. She has a lot of ways to spur him on--a needle, an axe, and if they don't work, she can get really nasty.

The novel's title carries separate meanings; it is the name carried by the central heroine of Pauls' book series and King described such a state of emotion during the novel's writing. King has outlined the creation of Misery in his memoirs and mention that the image of Annie Wilkes came to him in a dream. The novel parallels King's personal life and the successful study of the relationship between celebrities and their fans. King planned the book to be released under the pseudonym Richard Bachman but his identity was discovered before the book's release.

Misery won the first Bram Stoker Award for Novel in 1987 and was nominated for the 1988 World Fantasy Award for Best Novel. It received positive reviews from readers and critics by praising King for not circumscribing the fantasy element of his past works.
