The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Description

The Alchemist is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho that was first published in 1988 in Portuguese. This modern classic became a widely translated international bestseller that transformed the lives of countless readers across generations.

This allegorical novel is a combination of magic, mysticism, wisdom, and wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery which follows, a young Andalusian shepherd boy-Santiago, in his journey to the pyramids of Egypt after having a recurring dream of finding a treasure there. His quest will lead him to a far different and far more satisfying destination than he ever imagined.
Santiago's journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and most importantly, to follow our dreams.
